Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek

DAY 01 POKHARA / BENI (1083 M.) 5-6 HRS. 
Drive from your Hotel to Beni (71 Kms.), through a scenic valley. Your trekking crew will receive you at Beni and will escort you to our Campsite where Lunch will be served. An afternoon guided tour of the Beni Bazar and its vicinity can be organized. Overnight stay in tents. 

DAY 02 BENI / BABIYA CHAUR (1203 M.)  (TATOPANI) 5-6 HRS. 
Start trekking after breakfast, the trail is broad and goes through paddy fields and picturesque villages and settlements. We come to the banks of Myagdi Khola (Stream), which is a tributary of the Kaligandaki River. We follow the banks of this stream crossing a few smaller streams on wooden bridges to Babiya Chaur. Babiya Chaur has a small market place and several houses. Stop at Babiya Chaur near the Myagdi Stream for overnight camping. 

DAY 03 BABIYA CHAUR / PHEDI  (1350 M.) 5-6 HRS. 
Trek along the Myagdi Stream banks with few gradual ascends . Lunch will be served at Darbang village. After Lunch we cross the River on a suspension bridge and follow the western banks of the Myagdi River to Phedi for the overnight camping in tents. Phedi has a few small teashops and is situated near the confluence of Dang and Myagdi rivers. 

DAY 04 PHEDI / MATTIM (1525 M.) 5-6 HRS. 
The trail is a combination of flat walking and some ascending through scattered settlements and villages of Dharapani, Takum and Sibang. A good view of Dhalaugiri I (8167 m.), Gurja Himal  (7193 m.) and the rest of the Dhaulagiri massif all ranging above 7000mtrs in height, can be observed from along the trail today. Overnight camping in tents. 

DAY 05 MATTIM / NAURA 6-7 (1485 M.) HRS. 
The first two hours of today's walk goes downhill until a stream is reached. Cross over the stream on a wooden bridge and the trail starts ascending for sometime. Today's walk is considered quite difficult. The village of Muri is reached where lunch will be served and from here you descend for sometime again to reach a riverbank. The trail can sometimes be difficult if there has been a landslide. Arrive at Naura for our overnight camping. 


DAY 06 NAURA / LAPCHE KHARKA (2022M.) 5-6 HRS. 
The trail is mostly ascending today through jungles and it quite difficult. We do not see any houses today and the trek is purely in the wilderness. All must walk closely together as there are chances of missing the trail today. Lapche kharka is a small open pasture, where we set our tents for the overnight camping. 

DAY 07 LAPCHE KHARKA / PUCCHAR (2800 M.) (FRENCH BASE CAMP) 
6-7 HRS. 
The trail today is mostly through jungles, with occasional clearings and few seasonal sheds. We follow the Myagdi Khola again from the left ( western) banks. Few villages and settlements are passed today as we follow the western banks of the river. Good views of the mountains can be seen from along the trail. Although today's walk is quite long but we can consider today as an easy day. Overnight in tents at Pucchar, which is also known as the French Base Camp. 
 
DAY 08 FRENCH BASE CAMP / JAPANESE BASE CAMP (3200 M.) CHHONBARDAN GLACIER) 4-5 HRS. 
The trail today is difficult and we must take it very gradually as we will be walking in a high altitude. We may have chances to see wild / Mountain goats high up on the cliffs of the trail. The trail  passes near the head of the  Chhonbardan Glacier, to reach the Japanese Base Camp for overnight stay in tents. 

DAY 09 JAPANESE BASE CAMP / DHAULAGIRI BASE CAMP (4300 M.) 
A difficult day today as we walk along the cliffs above the Chhonbardan Glacier. A panoramic view of the Dhaulagiri massif including several other peaks can be seen from the trail. All must walk closely to each other as we have high chances of loosing the trail. One must also have their windcheaters handy for today as it can be very windy. We reach the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, for our camping. This is the spot from where the major expeditions to Dhaulagiri are  started. 

DAY 10/11 REST DAYs  AT D.B.C. 
A local excursion of the area and its vicinity can be organized for today. 

DAY 12 D.B.C. / HIDDEN VALLEY (FRENCH PASS) 5360 M. 5-6 HRS. 
We continue on the glacier of Chhonbardan  from Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Good View of Dhaulagiri now from a different angle and few other new peaks become visible as we keep ascending through the glacial mount. Today we set our camp at the Pass known as the French Pass. A superb view of the  Dhaulagiri Massif can be seen from this campsite. 

DAY 13 HIDDEN VALLEY / THAPA PASS 5250 M. 6-7 HRS. 
We leave the Hidden valley behind and proceed on toward the Thapa Pass at 5250 meters. Overnight camping on the Pass. 

DAY 14 BASE CAMP / YAK KHARKA 4300 M. 
We continue on the ridge at 5000mteres and descend to our campsite at Yak Kharka for overnight camping. It will be a difficult day today and it can get very windy. 

DAY 15 YAK KHARKA / TUKUCHE - MARPHA 2591 M.  4-5 HRS. 
Descending along the ridge all the way to civilization at Tukuche village. Today we walk steeply downhill all the way to our campsite. 

DAY 16 TUKUCHE / JOMSOM  2713 M. 4-5 HRS. 
As we come to Tukuche we meet the famous Kaligandaki River and we are at the world's deepest gorge. We follow the Kaligandaki along the western banks through larger villages of Marpha and Syang and on to Jomsom for overnight  stay. Your guide will reconfirm your flight tickets so that you can fly to Pokhara the following morning. Jomsom get quite windy in the afternoon and usually the evening and mornings are calm. 

DAY 17 FLY JOMSOM / POKHARA AND POKHARA TO KATHMANDU. 
We take the scenic half-hour flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and connect to another 35 minutes flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
